Victorian Technical Selection Championships

Details are as follows:
Date: Sunday 15th August, 2010
Time:  - Officials and Judges arrive 7.30 am
           - All belts registration at 8.00 am
           - Competition Starts 8.30 am  
Venue: State Netball & Hockey Centre, Brens Drive, Parkville
Date: Sunday 22nd August, 2010
Time:  - Officials and Judges arrive 7.30 am
           - All belts registration at 8.00 am
           - Competition Starts 8.30 am  
Venue: Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre, Aughtie Drive, Albert Park


NOTE:                               

All Individual Standard Poomsae and Individual Music Poomsae compete on Sunday 15th August.

All other competitors compete on August 22nd.

Taekwondo at the Pan Pacific Masters Games

Taekwondo will be one of the major sports on the program at the 7th Pan Pacific Masters Games to be held on the Gold Coast in Australia from 6 to 14 November this year.

There will be 34 sports on the program, with more than 10,000 people from all over the world expected to converge on the Gold Coast to participate.

The Pan Pacific Masters Games is a celebration of master’s sport with both fierce and friendly competition and a jam-packed entertainment program at the Games Village at the end of each day.

The minimum age requirement for Taekwondo is 30 years. The Event divisions include:
Individual Events:
• Creative Breaking – 30+, 40+, 50+ and 60+
• Creative Patterns – 30+, 40+, 50+ and 60+
• Power Breaking – black belts only
• Sparring – 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54 and 55+
• Traditional Patterns – 30+, 40+, 50+ and 60+
Team Events:
• Self Defence
• Team Patterns – Creative and Traditional
The competition will be held at the Games Village.

All sports are located in close proximity to the Games Village at the Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre in Broadbeach. The Games Village will feature the registration centre, merchandise, live nightly entertainment, fully catered hospitality and an exclusive venue for competitors to meet up and enjoy the spirit the event is known for.

Being held on the Gold Coast also means that participants can enjoy the golden sands of the surf beaches, choose from a huge range of accommodation for all budgets, visit the exciting theme parks and relax at some great restaurants, bars and cafes.

Victorian sparring championship 31st July & 1st August

 

Competition information

All athletes are required to attend the weigh in on their day of competition including uncontested athletes.
All athletes and coaches will be required to pay $5.00 to gain entry into the State Netball and Hockey centre.

Head Instructors presenting their 2010 Taekwondo Australia Head Instructors card to gain free entry.
Coaches brief will commence downstairs near players entrance 30 mins prior to competition scheduled start time at this time coaches will receive the coach event pass to gain access to competition area.

Referees and volunteers will be on a free list at reception, those not on the list will need to get a reimbursement and need to retain their receipt for this purpose.

At weigh in athletes need to bring their competition declaration form and TA registration card.

Saturday
Saturdays weigh will commence at 3.00pm with youngest age divisions weighing first.
Competition is scheduled to commence at 4pm with the youngest athletes competing first.

Sunday
Sundays weigh in will commence at 8.00am with oldest age divisions weighing first.
Competition is scheduled to commence at 9am with the oldest age divisions competing first.

Competitors must make weight to qualify for their division, athletes and coaches need to understand that this is a selection event and athletes need to be diligent with weight management to avoid disqualification.

Please check the final entries list on the entry site to check the final division allocations, these are the expected weights of athletes at weigh in.


Due to the National championships having head contact in the 14 & 15 yrs division, at this competition head contact will be optional and decided by the coaches concerned – if both coaches agree head contact will be permitted – if one or more coaches request body contact only then head contact will not be permitted.

Athletes can only compete in 14 & 15yrs or 16 & 17yrs according to their date of birth, as this is the divisions being run at the national championships.

Athletes, coaches and parents need to be aware that the national championships in Canberra will permit head contact in the 14 & 15yrs age divisions.

Black belt athletes competing at this competition will automatically qualify for the 2010 national championships in Canberra.
Coloured belt competitors placing 1st, 2nd or 3rd and or uncontested will automatically qualify for the 2010 national championships in Canberra.

Information regarding the Victorian state team and the associated process will be available at the competition.
Qualified athletes are required to register online for inclusion onto the 2010 Victoria team, please check this website after Monday 2nd August to action this.

We have visiting squads from NSW and Tas attending, all team Vic members are expected to attend. At this session we will be updating members on upcoming events and news locally and Nationally.
